19 Years Trudging the Road and I’m Not Even Thirsty

This past Monday was 19 years…

19 years of continuous sobriety,

19 years of not waking up with a hangover,

19 years of not waking up wondering how I got this or that bruise,

19 years of living life on life’s terms,

19 years of ever-increasing love and tolerance for my fellow human…

19 years of compassion for others and the struggles they face,

19 years of being able to help others without a hidden motive,

19 years of growing and evolving,

19 years of feeling every emotion, not just the good ones,

19 years of reality.

I realized as I was sharing yesterday that 19 years was also the length of time that I drank, so I have now been sober as long as I was drinking. I didn’t do this on my own. There have been so many people along my journey who helped me to heal, to become a better person, and who gave me light in my darkest moments. Some I knew before I came to AA and many I’ve met since then, earth people and fellow AAs, and some who never even knew that something they did or said made an impact. Thank you to the Cosmos, the energies that surround me, and ALL of the many people who have been a part of my journey.

19 years… ODAAT

Spread the love
